I expected much but expectations were surpassed by reality. Kudos to Pirelli and the people behind the project. Huge legacy industrial space, perfectly redone, arranged with expertise and love. And then comes the art: a truly mythological installation by Anselm Kiefer will place itself in your memories, plus a powerful set of Nan Goldin picture shows will touch your emotions. If you have time, take half a day off for the Hangar. In my eyes global top league art venue.

What an extraordinary exhibition space where art truly breathes! I visited during the Anselm Kiefer and Bruce Nauman exhibitions. I was moved by the breathtaking scale Kiefer’s monumental towers, inspired by ancient Jewish mysticism, themes of transcendence, ruin and the human quest for meaning. Nauman’s neon and video pieces provoked with linguistic play and psychological tension. The industrial setting amplified the impact — a must‑see for anyone seeking contemporary art at its most profound.

Hangar Bicocca is always an exciting place to explore for those who love contemporary and modern art. They regularly host high-quality exhibitions that are often innovative, thought-provoking, and a bit more alternative than the typical art shows you find elsewhere in Milan. This time, however, the exhibition didn’t impress me as much as their previous ones — it wasn’t particularly new or surprising. Still, it’s always nice to visit the space and experience art in such a unique industrial setting. The gallery is not located in the city center, but it’s very easy to reach by metro, bus, or car. There are plenty of free parking spots around, which is a big plus in Milan. One of the highlights is the permanent installation by Anselm Kiefer, which is truly worth seeing every time you visit. Entrance is completely free, making it one of the best cultural spots to enjoy in the city. There’s also a lovely bar and café inside if you want to relax with a drink or a snack after your visit. Overall, even if the temporary exhibition didn’t amaze me this time, I still highly recommend Hangar Bicocca for anyone who wants to discover contemporary art in a fascinating and accessible environment.

It's basically a modern art museum and it's very evocative. Recommend it, although it's definitely not for everyone.

This gallery was so impressive and amazing! It is so big, almost overwhelming. They have huge art installations and yet it still feels spacious and calm. By far one of the best and most beautiful galleries I ever got to visit!
